Massage itself - with or with out essential oils can be described as the formalisation of a very primative instinct. The simple action of rubbing a painful part of the body encourages an increased flow of blood, and this in itself helps to ease the pain.
During a massage a variety of strokes will be used - designed to relieve pain, ease tention and tight muscles and increase circulation. The massage strokes are applied to the superficial muscles, but the effects also benefit the deeper layers of muscle and possibly the underlying organs.
The benefits of massage is cumulative although the client will almost always feel good following a massage and for some time afterwards, regular massage will prolong the feeling of wellbeing for ever increasing periods after each treatment.
